Kyle A. LongFounder and DirectorKyle Long is a university administrator, educational consultant, and scholar of higher education and international affairs. As Senior Director of Organizational Strategy and Change at Northwestern University, he provides counsel to the Provost, Vice President of Operations, and deans. His research focuses on international campuses and the geopolitics of education. He is a Fulbright Specialist (2021-25) and non-resident Research Fellow at the Center on Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California (2022-24). Kyle serves as Vice President of the American University of Iraq Foundation, a U.S. tax-exempt charitable organization that supports liberal arts education in Iraq. Among his prior appointments are UNESCO Co-Chair of International Education for Development at the George Washington University, Director of Higher Education Research for Hanover Research, and inaugural Director of the U.S. Office for the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani. He has consulted on development projects funded by the Asian Development Bank and the United States Agency for International Development. Kyle earned a PhD in International and Comparative Education from Columbia University.

Busola AkinbobolaResearch AssistantBusola Akinbobola is a student in the MA in Education program at University of British Columbia (UBC). She specializes in Educational Leadership and Policy. As a researcher and data analyst, she excels in data collection, cleaning, and reporting to tackle educational problems and challenges. Busola has a keen interest in data visualization and is fascinated by the process of compressing a complex dataset into approachable and appealing illustrations. She is passionate about SDG 4 (Quality Education) and is currently a Global Youth Ambassador at TheirWorld, London, and Giddy2School, Nigeria where she collaborates with other young changemakers to raise awareness and initiatives on ensuring quality education for children all over the world. She is also interested in management consulting and business development for NGOs with preference to policy development on welfare and standard of living (education, economy, and infrastructure)

Hayley PottleResearch AssistantHayley Pottle is an international education, development, and communications professional. Her cross-sector work involves higher education, non-profits, and governmental organizations. She currently participates in USAID Graduate Pathways Program with the Digital Inclusion Team working on initiatives for women in tech, is a UN Graduate Fellow with UNA-NCA, and is pursuing her Master of Arts in International Education at the George Washington University (GWU). Hayley previously served as the Manager for Student Recruitment for Middle East Programs and Outreach for the Institute of International Education (IIE) and Program Manager of TechGirls, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State. Her work has taken her across the MENA region and United States including as the Project Development Manager for Hopes for Women in Education in Amman and Jerash, Jordan. She also worked as an Education Consultant for the University of Richmond. Hayley holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Mass Communications. Her professional associations include the Public Diplomacy Council of America (PDCA), Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP), and the World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence.

Siyu ShenResearch AssistantSiyu Shen, from Suzhou, China, holds a master’s degree in Education and Human Development and a TESOL Certificate from the George Washington University. She currently works as an Undergraduate Program Assistant for Duke Kunshan University (DKU). She offers administration support for the degree conferring work, facilitates undergraduates’ graduation process and coordinates university-wide commencement activities. She supervised and participated in the design of DKU’s inaugural bachelor’s degree graduation apparel set by coordinating with colleagues and external stakeholders. Her passion is in international education and higher education. She delves into these fields and hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in the future. Her hobbies are traveling, skiing, and writing. She has explored over 30 states in the U.S. and did a 5,000-mile road trip from Washington, DC to Seattle, WA in 3 weeks. Her 50 travel blogs have been posted publicly on social media.

Saiansha PanangipalliResearch AssistantSaiansha is a strategic storyteller passionate about using public diplomacy to build bridges between countries and cultures. Having lived, worked, and studied in India, the U.S., and the UK, she can tap into diverse political, economic, and social contexts to develop narratives that resonate globally. As an associate at a global communications agency, she offers her clients a wealth of experience in international relations, policy analysis, and strategic communication, acquired through her work across public, private, and multilateral institutions. Prior to this, she was a Global Initiatives Fellow at the George Washington University, where she attained her MA in Global Communication. As part of her degree, Saiansha developed the Guatemalan Indigenous Inclusion in Media Toolkit to help organizations amplify indigenous narratives, and was awarded the Walter Roberts Award for Public Diplomacy Studies. She graduated summa cum laude with a BSc in Communication from Boston University.

Justin HillResearch AssistantJustin Hill is a native of Miami, Florida, and a graduate of the George Washington University with a Master of Arts in International Education. Justin has a passion for history, and he is especially interested in the imperial past of Caribbean nations, particularly Haiti, and how imperialism has affected economic, social, educational, and political development. Hill earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Genocidal Studies from Florida International University in 2017. He is a member of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, an organization whose mission is to cultivate the next generation of foreign policy leaders. Hill presented his research on open and distance learning education in conflict-affected regions of Nigeria at the Washington Consortium Comparative and International Education conference in 2021, which would later serve as the foundation for his master’s degree capstone research project. Hill aspires to earn a doctorate in the fields of Caribbean colonial history and policy formation in the Caribbean region. His hobbies include traveling to new places, bicycling throughout Washington, D.C., and reading newly published educational development research.
